Olivia was making good progress on the road back to the Antrim Road Station when her stomach rumblings prompted her to stop off for some lunch. Driving through Glengormley, she noticed a curb mounted sign for a café and pulled in around the corner. The warm bistro was exactly what she needed after the chill of the burial site, and eying a cosy booth, she headed straight for it and sat down. The time out gave her the chance to consider how she would present the new evidence to Madden. Aware he had the day booked off, she was concerned he might not appreciate being called in to discuss what had become a very sore subject at the station.

“Hi there, are you ready to order?”

Deep in thought, the greeting caught Olivia by surprise. “Oh, sorry, I was miles away.”

“I can give you a minute and come back if you like,” the waiter said with a courteous smile.

“No, that’s fine. I don’t have long,” she replied before briefly scanning the extensive menu, unable to make a decision. “I’ll just have a tea and whatever is on special, please.”

“Today’s special is eggs benedict with crispy smoked bacon.”

Olivia nodded, feeling her stomach growl in approval. “That sounds perfect, thank you.”

“Great, is there anything else I can get you?” The waiter asked, removing the menu from the table.

“No, that’s everything, thanks,” Olivia replied, impressed with the waiter’s natural service skills.

“Won’t be long,” he said before walking towards the kitchen. Much to Olivia’s delight, he was true to his word and returned with the order within minutes. Work momentarily left her thoughts as she savoured every bite of the perfectly cooked meal. Her subconscious was clearly still working on the matter as by the time she had finished, she knew what she was going to do. Leaving a generous tip for the excellent service on the table, she left the café as her phone beeped. Checking it, she saw it was the scans of the palm and fingerprints she requested from Dr Burrows. With a confident smile, she walked to her car and drove back to the station.
